Industry Partners

Alberta Barley works closely with a number of industry partners both provincially and nationally to speak with a strong, unified voice on issues and concerns that affect businesses, organizations, individuals and families throughout the agriculture industry. This work is largely done through Alberta Barley’s involvement in Team Alberta, the Barley Council of Canada (BCC) and the Grain Growers of Canada (GGC).

Team Alberta is a collaboration between the four major crop commissions in Alberta: Alberta Barley, Alberta Canola, Alberta Pulse Growers and the Alberta Wheat Commission. Team Alberta works to advance policy issues that impact Alberta's crop sector both provincially and nationally. Together, Team Alberta combines resources to strengthen the voice of Alberta's crop sector through advocacy, promotion of sustainability, ensuing long-term market access and providing policy input to government.

Alberta Barley took a strong leadership role in the formation of the Barley Council of Canada (BCC). The BCC’s mandate is to develop and implement a common vision that will enable long-term profitability and sustainable growth of the Canadian barley industry through value chain collaboration. The BCC's board of directors includes a 50/50 split of farmer and industry representatives in order to effectively represent the entire barley value chain.

Alberta Barley is a partner of the Grain Growers of Canada (GGC), a national organization comprised of major grain, pulse and oilseed commodity groups from across the country. The GGC is the National Voice of Grain Farmers from coast to coast. Representing over 65,000 farmers, GGC members are trade-oriented, sustainable and innovative. As the farmer-driven association for the grains industry, the GGC advocates for the federal government to take decisions that support the competitiveness and profitability of grain growers across Canada.
