Alberta Barley continues with its executive leadership into 2023

December 8, 2022, (Banff, Alberta) — Following Alberta Barley’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), in conjunction with the Prairie Cereals Summit, the commission is pleased to announce the executive of its board of directors. Tara Sawyer, who farms near Acme, Alberta, will continue her role as chair, while Roy Newman, who farms near Blackie, Alberta, will continue to serve as vice-chair.

“I continue to be honoured by the board’s vote of confidence in my ability to serve Alberta barley farmers as Chair,” says Tara Sawyer. “During this critical time period of transitioning into one commission by the end of our fiscal year, the board understood the importance of maintaining leadership stability.”

Following the Alberta Barley AGM, the board welcomes a new director for Region 4, Clint Jacula, who farms outside of Derwent, Alberta, with his wife Irene. Jacula previously held the role of Region 4 director in the interim covering a vacancy in Region 4.

“With the plebiscites in our rear-view mirror, the real work has started,” said Roy Newman. “The emphasis of continuity when working on the amalgamation file was evident by the executive selection of the board.” For more information on the results of Alberta Barley’s 2022 elections, click here.
