Alberta Barley is pleased to announce the following results from farmer governance nominations that closed on October 29, 2021.

In Region 5, Scott Jespersen from Spruce Grove, Alberta was newly acclaimed to the role of director.

In Region 6, Brent Konstapel from Spirit River, Alberta was re-elected as director by acclamation.

Connie Matson, of Wetaskiwin, Alberta who farms in Regions 3 and 5, was acclaimed to the role of director-at-large. She is a long-serving delegate with Alberta Barley.

In Region 4, the one-year position of director remains open following the closure of nominations and will be filled from the floor at the Regional Meeting in Vermilion, Alberta on November 30, 2021. Eligible barley farmers in Region 4 are encouraged to attend the regional meeting in-person or online and consider putting their name forward for this one-year position.

In addition to the above director and director-at-large positions that were up for nomination, a number of delegate opportunities from Regions 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are open for farmer involvement. Open delegate opportunities include: four delegate positions in Region 1, four in Region 3, three in Region 4, four in Region 5, and three in Region 6. Every year, all open delegate positions are elected from the floor at Regional Meetings throughout the province.

Alberta Barley would like to thank outgoing directors Wade McAllister, director-at-large and vice chair, and Shane DeBock, Region 5, for their service to Alberta farmers.
