As directed by the boards of the Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC) and Alberta Barley, the two commissions are soliciting farmers’ opinions on the potential merger of the two commissions to one formal entity. The consultations are an opportunity for Alberta wheat and barley farmers to contribute their input during the summer and fall of 2021.

Farmer consultations launching this summer on formal amalgamation

The Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions are launching a consultation this summer to solicit farmers’ opinions on amalgamating to form a single commission. The consultation will begin in July with an online survey, followed by online town hall events after harvest in October, with further dialogue and sessions during Regional Meeting events in November.
