Each Plot2Farm protocol is developed by the Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions with on-farm research in mind. By collaborating with experienced researchers, we developed protocols intended for field-scale situations. Plot2Farm applicants can select from a wide range of protocols for both spring wheat and barley. If you cannot find a protocol that serves your agronomic question, a small number of spaces are left open for custom-designed protocols. You can provide information on your vision for a custom protocol on the application form.
When farmers complete a Plot2Farm trial, they’ll receive their results from the commissions post-harvest. Data derived from Plot2Farm trials help farmers make agronomic management decisions with greater confidence. Check out the results from previous Plot2Farm seasons.
Each protocol has a specific code. This code allows the commissions to accumulate data on that protocol over years and analyze trends between Plot2Farm participants. Use this code in your application form to let us know which protocol you want to implement!
